What is rhodiola?
Rhodiola, also called golden root or roseroot, is a hardy flowering plant from cold, rocky mountain regions. Its thick root smells faintly of roses when it's freshly cut, and that root is the part that's harvested, dried, ground and used.
Where it comes from
Rhodiola grows in the Arctic and in high mountains of Europe, Asia and North America.
It roots in rocky ground and flowers in small yellow clusters.
