Xylooligosaccharides (XOS)
In Super-Biome
What is xylooligosaccharides?
Xylooligosaccharides, or XOS, are short chains of xylose, a natural plant sugar found in wood and grain. They're made by gently breaking down the fiber in plant materials like corncobs, and they look like a fine, lightly sweet white powder.
Where it comes from
The fiber XOS comes from, called xylan, is in the cell walls of many plants.
Corncobs, birch wood, bamboo shoots and wheat bran all contain it.
