What is a pomegranate?
A pomegranate is a round fruit with a leathery red skin, filled with hundreds of juicy, jewel-like seeds called arils. The arils are sweet-tart and crunchy, scattered over salads and grain bowls, or pressed into a glossy, deep red juice.
Where it comes from
Pomegranate trees grow in hot, dry climates from Iran to the Mediterranean and California.
The fruit ripens in fall and keeps for weeks.
