What is chickpea powder?
Chickpea powder is dried chickpeas ground into a fine flour, also known as gram flour or besan. It's nutty and slightly sweet, and cooks around the world use it for batters, crisp flatbreads, savory pancakes, golden fritters and comforting dals.
Where it comes from
Chickpeas grow in small, papery pods on bushy plants in warm, dry fields from India to the Mediterranean and North America.
Each pod holds one or two peas.
